At 8am this morning, all flags were returned to full mast. While this marks the end of the official period of mourning for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The Book of Condolence is still available to sign until 4:00pm today (please note this is the final day to come and pay your respects, reflect and remember Her Majesty The Queen).

The Book will be then sent to Kresen Kernow (the County Archive) with a copy being retained by the Town Council. The Town Council will also write a letter of condolence to the Royal Family.

A massive thank everyone for taking the time to come and sign the book (local residents and visitors to the Town) we are very appreciative of the amount of visitors who visited the the Town Hall to add a message of condolence to the book.

Also, a massive thank you to who laid flower tributes outside the Town Hall and at the Memorial Stones on Egloshayle Playing Fields. Our Parks Department will compost these separately and the compost will be used in the future to plant a tree in memory of the Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Reading of the Proclamation

At 3:30pm on Sunday 11th September 2022, Deputy Lord Lieutenant Gaynor Coley read the Proclamation following the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II and the succession of King Charles III.

Deputy Lord Lieutenant Gaynor Coley was joined by other Deputy Lieutenants, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, Wadebridge Town Councillors, Scott Mann MP and our two Cornwall Councillors along with many members of the community who assembled to witness this historic moment.

During the Proclamation the flags were raised to full mast, before returning to half-mast where they will remain until 8am on the day following the Queen’s State Funeral. It was a significant and moving moment when 'God Save the King' was proclaimed by all present. This was followed by everyone singing the National Anthem.

Wadebridge Town Council would like to thank everybody who attended and participated in the event, and a thank you to Debbie Bate Photography and Seaglass Craft for capturing this moment in history and to Mike Ford for use of the PA equipment.

God Save The King
