After a busy few weeks for the Parks team with the hanging baskets and other duties, the brand-new tractor in the Under 5’s at Egloshayle Park has now been installed. The old one has now taken a deserved retirement.

Although COVID has delayed many improvements, especially in our Parks we’re looking at further additions in the near future!

Wadebridge Town Council is delighted to announce that, at the Annual Council meeting held on Wednesday 19 May 2021, Members unanimously voted Cllr Amanda Pennington be appointed Wadebridge Mayor for 2021/2022.

Amanda Pennington

Amanda joined Wadebridge Town Council in September 2011 after the town called an election to fill 2 vacancies and has been involved in many council projects, including sitting on various working groups, and as Chairman of the Planning Committee.  Amanda works hard for the parishioners of Wadebridge and is always ready to listen to their comments and suggestions.  Amanda is well respected by her fellow councillors and staff alike and we wish her well as Wadebridge Town Council’s  Mayor for the year ahead.

Ian Welch

Members also voted unanimously to appoint Cllr Ian Welch as Deputy Mayor for 2021/2022.  Ian joined the town council as a co-opted member in October 2018 and from the very start has gained the trust and respect from his fellow councillors.  Ian has assisted Amanda on the Planning Committee as Deputy Chair where he ensures all aspects of planning applications are considered and is keen to encourage and listen to comments from members of the public.  Ian is also on many working groups including the Climate Change Emergency group.

We wish both Amanda and Ian good luck in their roles as Mayor and Deputy Mayor over the coming year.

phil mayor

Cllr Philip Mitchell opened Wadebridge Town Council’s Annual Council Meeting on Wednesday 19 May 2021 as the outgoing Mayor.  Phil was elected to the Town Council in the 2017 elections and has worked tirelessly for the town from the very start.  Phil is known for his hard work and commitment on the Neighbourhood Plan – always trying to move it forward in a positive way.  As Mayor, Phil represented the Town Council, along with his wife and Mayoress Cllr Louise Mitchell, at many events and functions and has forged good working partnerships with many neighbouring parishes over the years.  Phil and Louise have been Mayor and Mayoress of Wadebridge for the past 3 years and Members thanked them for the commitment, especially over the past year which has proved a very difficult time for everyone. Phil has ensured that he has continued to represent the town in that time and has worked hard with the Clerk to ensure the Town Council has stayed open and able to offer as many services to the town as possible.  Members and staff thank Phil and Louise for their hard work over the past several years and are very pleased that they have decided to remain as Town Councillors for the foreseeable future.
