Wadebridge Town Council is CLOSED

Wadebridge Town Council and all its buildings are now closed until further notice following recent Government advice.  Any staff who are attending work today are in for a short time to pick up items to allow them to work from home and to carry out any final emergency tasks.  This decision has been taken following the announcement made yesterday evening by the Government.  Council staff are aware of their responsibilities in the current climate and the need to stay home and to stay safe.  Staff are now working from home and any essential tasks will be addressed as and when required.

The Skatepark and play areas are closed and should not be accessed.   Please be responsible for your own and others safety and stay away.  Keep your distance and have care for everyone.

If you need to contact the Town Council, please either email or leave a phone message on the details below.  We will get back to you as soon as we are able.  Please contact us if you are concerned about anything and we can put you in touch with any support you need.  No-one should feel worried about being on their own as our Community will support you.

The Council wish everyone the strength and positivity to deal with the changes made to our lives at present.  When the sun is shining (at last) is seems difficult to be asked to stay at home and not enjoy our wonderful town and surrounding areas.  However, if we all change our ways for a short time we will be back to normal as quickly as possible, with lives saved and our NHS able to cope with Coronavirus.

Stay well, stay safe and stay home.

All Wadebridge Town Council play areas are CLOSED until further notice

The Town Council is following Government advise and discouraging public gatherings and encouraging social distancing in trying to help our NHS and stop the spread of Coronavirus.

No-one can control what others touch in a play area and it is challenging to prevent children from touching their faces after using play equipment. It is also extremely difficult in a play area to keep children a safe distance apart. The Town Council do not wish anyone to take be at risk in their Play Areas and as a result these are now closed.

Please behave responsibly in the face of Coronavirus. If not our choice to behave responsibly will be taken from us and decisions made for us.

We only get one chance at being responsible and making sure Coronavirus doesn’t spread and cause untold damage to our lives, our families, our friends and the NHS. This is not a trial run.

Let’s work together to live together.

Thank you Wadebridge - stay safe everyone

Wadebridge Skatepark is CLOSED until further notice

The Town Council is following Government advise and discouraging public gatherings and encouraging social distancing in trying to help our NHS and stop the spread of Coronavirus.

The Skatepark is a long awaited and new addition to our town, has been enjoyed by many since it opened with work planned to make it even better.

Over the weekend we have seen people of all ages using the Skatepark but seemingly having complete disregard for what is going on in the world around them. The sun may be out and spring is here but this is not our usual stroll into summer in Wadebridge.

In Wadebridge today:
Pubs and restaurants are closed
Bike hire companies are closed
Hairdressers are closed
Shops are closed
The Library is closed
Doctors and dentists are dealing with emergencies only
Colleges, Schools and nurseries are closed apart from the children of essential workers.
Vulnerable and older people can’t get out of their homes and are having their food, meals and prescriptions delivered.

All those places which are closed are still working hard - working hard to keep us safe.

Everyone’s lives have changed at the moment.

Please behave responsibly in the face of Coronavirus. If not our choice to behave responsibly will be taken from us and decisions made for us.

Please do not feel motivated to break in to the Skatepark because you feel the need to skate or because you feel it is unfair that we have closed the Skatepark. Instead be responsible for your own and others safety and stay away. Keep your distance and have care for everyone. If you are irresponsible enough to think you won’t get the virus remember this is not about you it’s about everybody else.

The quicker we all get on with social distancing the quicker we’ll all get back to normal. We only get one chance at being responsible and making sure Coronavirus doesn’t spread and cause untold damage to our lives, our families, our friends and the NHS. This is not a trial run.

Let’s work together to live together.

Thank you Wadebridge - stay safe everyone

Message from the Mayor of Wadebridge:

Dear Wadebridge,

As we reach the end of a very unsettling week for us all I would like to say how proud and impressed I have been with the way the residents of Wadebridge are dealing with this unprecedented situation.

I have been blown away by the spirit and offers of help from our community and the willingness to come together in what is going to be a difficult time. Over the last few days, I have been meeting with fellow Councillors, have spoken with our MP and health officials and had meetings with many community leaders. On Wednesday I met with representatives from Wadebridge Christian Centre, Concern Wadebridge, The Food Bank, Cornwall Council, Creation Fest, the Admin of the Wadebridge ‘offers of help’ Facebook page and the Vicar of Wadebridge.

I would like to assure you that a plan is underway to provide a co-ordinated and joined up response to this situation with a priority concern for the vulnerable and those in need. A central hub has been identified and leaflets and posters are being printed. More information will be released on Monday.

Wadebridge is our home and we will all work together to support each other in this difficult time.

This is a period of adjustment which no-one could have envisaged. We will all be able to return to normality at some point but must remember the changes required now are to keep us all safe.

Please keep safe and take sensible precautions while following government advice. Look out for each other especially the elderly and those in need, be respectful, but most importantly, carry on being the great community that is Wadebridge.

I will be in touch soon with more information.

Cllr Phil Mitchell

Mayor of Wadebridge
