Latest News

The Town Council has reluctantly taken the decision to cancel this year's New Year's Eve Fireworks.  This is
due to the continuing issues with regards to Covid-19 and ongoing restrictions of social distancing, which will, according to the latest advice and information on mass gatherings, not be reviewed until November 2020 at the earliest.

We are disappointed in having to take this decision but the safety of our community is paramount.

Fireworks for New Year's Eve 2021 have been booked and we look forward to our wonderful town welcoming in 2022 in the usual way.

NOTICE FROM CORMAC

"As part of our planned highway maintenance activity we will be surface dressing the A389 between Dunmere, Bodmin & the B3266 junction Wednesday 26th August.

We know that the road network in this area is normally very busy, especially during the summer season. However, the very nature of the work means that we can only carry out these activities at this time of year in warm weather conditions. Unfortunately, the recent variable weather conditions & high humidity has meant our previous attempts have been delayed.

If the weather is favourable, we will carry out our operation between 6am – 8am, and the resume after 9:30am if necessary.

The works will be undertaken under ‘Stop and Go’ with a convoy vehicle to control the speed of passing traffic.

We know this will impact the local community and we want to assure you that we will do all that we can to minimise the disruption, but we do anticipate some delays for road users.

If you haven’t already received a copy, attached is our surface dressing fact sheet which explains a little bit more about these operations.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience while these works are taking place.

RingGo - it’s live!

As some customers may have already noticed, the cashless parking in our car parks has officially gone live today. You will see stickers on our machines & posters on our signage boards giving the location information & telephone number (for those not booking through the app). If you have the RingGo app itself, it will automatically pick your closest locations making things really simple.

Please note, the parking fees are the same as stated on our charges boards, with an additional 10p convenience fee applied per transaction. If your fees appear different, this will be due to the optional costs set out by RingGo - you can change this either when booking your parking or in your notification settings on the app itself.

Machines are still available to use with cash if this is your preferred option.

Further information can be found using the link below:

Funding Opportunity for Local Community Groups - Closing date 31 August 2020

To those of you that aren’t aware, have forgotten about or are still thinking about applying to us for a Proceeds Of Crime Act (POCA) grant, then the clock is ticking away to the deadline of midnight on the 31 August 2020.

As a reminder anyone can apply for a grant and that includes statutory, regulatory & charitable organisations as well as members of the general public, agencies, clubs, schools etc. where there is a need to obtain funds for a project. The maximum grant is £5,000 however for the first time this year we are accepting joint applications up to a maximum of 4 which means a potential total grant of up to a maximum of £20,000 to fund a joint project!  One applicant would act as the “project manager.” For those who wish to make a joint application, then we only need to receive one application for the whole project however this must contain a breakdown of how each individual project would contribute to the overall project and also contain a detailed cost analysis for each individual project applicant.

An application form and a set of Terms & Conditions can only be obtained by downloading them from our website www.stoploansharks.co.uk

For anyone who is interested in applying to us for one of these grants but who needs more information or questions answered, then feel free to contact me direct however please note that I am not part of the team that will decide which projects are successful or not as this is done by a team at national level.

Good luck and stay safe,
