BOOK OF CONDOLENCE

It is with great sadness that Wadebridge Town Council announces that a Book of Condolence for His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who passed away on Friday 9 April 2021, will be opened at the Town Hall, Wadebridge.

The Book of Condolence will be open from Monday 12 April 2021 until the day following the funeral – this date will be advised once more information regarding the funeral has been received.

However, due to the current Covid-19 restrictions it is unfortunately necessary to restrict the hours available for members of the public to sign the Book of Condolence. There will be two sessions available each day as follows :

Monday 12 April 2021 – Friday 16 April 2021

9.30am – Noon

2pm-4pm

Monday 19 April 2021 – the day following the funeral (inclusive)

9.30am – Noon

These are open sessions and you do not need an appointment unless you require use of the disabled access.

For health and safety purposes and in accordance with Government legislation, social distancing rules must be followed at all times and a face covering must be worn throughout your visit unless you have a valid exemption certificate – please bring this with you as you will need to show this to the member of staff on duty.

Please also expect your temperature to be taken on entering the Town Hall and hand sanitisers will be available to you.

You are also asked to bring your own pen if possible.

On Monday and Tuesday, the Book of Condolence will be located in the Foyer Office of the Town Hall with only one person being able to access the Book at any time.  A queuing system will be in place and a member of staff available to assist with this.  Please note that disabled access is not available on these days.

From Wednesday onwards, the Book will be located in the Main Hall with four separate tables available.

Town council staff will be available to assist members of the public and to also ensure that social distancing is adhered to at all times throughout the sessions.

The Book of Condolence is made up of loose-leaf pages that will be bound and retained by the Town Council. After the funeral, a letter will be sent to the Queen’s Private Secretary advising of the Book of Condolence and the number of signatures received.

We understand that there will be an official Buckingham Palace Condolence Book – more information on how to access this will be advised as and when it is received.

We thank you for your patience and cooperation whilst visiting the Town Hall on this sad occasion.

⚠️ Egloshayle Toilets CLOSED ⚠️

THIS TOILET FACILITY IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED WHILST WE AWAIT FOR REPAIR WORKS.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Egloshayle Cemetery:

Due to a leaking / broken tap at Egloshayle Cemetery the water is currently off until this is repaired.

This is being fixed and will be up and running again on Thursday.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Yet again it is disappointing to see a large amount of litter being left all around the Skatepark. We know there is an ongoing debate as to why our Skatepark is closed.  We would like to remind you that we are in a pandemic and during this pandemic we are required to follow recommended guidance which is that the Skatepark should close.  Yet we still are faced daily with copious amounts of litter and smashed glass left around the grounds of the skatepark.

This isn’t the first time we have put up a post regarding the amount of litter being dumped and left around Wadebridge Parks, Car Parks and the Skatepark.  Our bins get emptied on a regular basis and if, for any reason, they are full is it too difficult to use another bin or take it home with you?

Dropping your litter on the ground and smashing glass while expecting others to clean up after you is unacceptable and disrespectful.  Please show some respect to Town Council staff who, regardless of a pandemic, shouldn't have to spend hours clearing up the mess of others who appear to have no regard for other users of the Skatepark, our Community or the Skatepark itself.

The Skatepark remains closed.  However, if you witness any COVID-19 breaches, including misuse of the skatepark, please report your concerns to Devon & Cornwall Police rather than contacting the Town Council offices. This then ensures that crime is logged in the correct manner and Police Officers can attend.
